Actor safe, 95 residents rescued, 2 firemen injured

A major fire in a posh 33-storeyed Prabhadevi high-rise -- BeauMonde -- gutted a penthouse and damaged another flat on the top two floors of the B wing. While there were no casualties reported, the fire-fighting efforts took seven hours and left two firemen injured. The fire was doused at 9.40 pm. The fire has yet again raised the issue of adequate safety measures in high-rises that are increasingly replacing smaller structures. According to building occupants, the fire started at around 1.15-1.30 pm, but the Fire Brigade received the first call at around 2.08 pm.
