Industrial areas battle water crisis

Schemes in doldrums; Polo Ground, Sanwer Road, Palda, Mahalaxmi Nagar, Dewas & Pithampur rely on tankers to meet requirements

With the ambitious project of drawing water for industries from river Narmada nowhere close to commencement, the water scarcity has once again grappled the industrial areas of the Indore district.
Industrial areas like Polo Ground, Sanwer Road, Palda, Mahalaxmi Nagar, Dewas and Pithampur don't have regular water supply and rely heavily on water tankers especially during summer.
As is the case every year, the industries in these regions would have to pay lakhs of rupees for receiving water supplies as various water supply schemes are still in doldrums.
In Pithampur area, the daily requirements for water is around 180 lakh litres but the AKVN, Indore at present supplies around 80 lakh litres of water.
