Teacher from Mulund wins state laurel

57-year-old Lakshmi Balakrishnan, a teacher at Vani Vidyalaya in Mulund, can’t stop smiling. For after dedicating 40 years to the field of teaching, she has won the ‘Adarsha Shikshak Rajya Puraskar’, granted by the Education department of state government of Maharashtra.
The senior supervisor of the secondary section, who had earlier received three gold medals and national awards for her proficiency in teaching, said, “This award has given me the utmost satisfaction.”
Lakshmi feels that her success wouldn’t have been possible without her father Dr AV Swaminathan’s advice.
