Bol is intense and intricate

Jazz musician and percussionist Sarathy Korwar has just dropped his second single, Bol, from his forthcoming record More Arriving, which will release on July 26. Featuring a performance from London poet Zia Ahmed, it explores themes of being South Asian in an increasingly-divided Britain. Sarathy, who is US-born, raised in India and based in the Brit capital, says, “It’s about wanting to find home,” Zia states, adding, “It’s going through images and ideas of brownness and South Asian identity that have been placed on me and people who look like me, by others in the UK and also by myself. The words are trying to navigate through all of that to find a version of myself that I can call whole/home,” he adds.
