It is said that the destiny of a nation is shaped in its classrooms. A school must, thus, facilitate the holistic development of intelligent, principled, balanced, open-minded, resilient and socially responsible human beings. Jankidevi Public School encourages and gives opportunities to its students to become knowledgeable and learn through the process of enquiry, reflection and communication.
The mission statement of the school endorses this view by stating that it endeavours for activity-oriented quality education which is pupil-centred, creating an international-minded student community. It also emphasizes on skill development to meet the needs of global education. The motto of the school 'Sa VidyaYaHitt Prada' reflects this ideology.
Education is the most powerful tool that can be used to transform the society and aid towards its betterment. With such a lofty vision, the school was started by its Founder-Chairman, Mr. Narendra Verma on 13th June, 1999. It is a temple of education providing an enriching environment to over 2000 students from Playgroup through the Eleventh grade. It was recognized by the ISO in 2005 and switched over to the ICSE Board in order to cater to the need of the times and on the demand of parents. The IGCSE, Cambridge (UK) curriculum was also introduced in 2007 keeping in view the requirements of parents who wish to send their wards for studies abroad.
The school was ranked 3rd in Zone B and 7th overall in the ‘Times School Survey 2015’ in the category 'Mumbai schools offering National and International curriculum'. The school is well-equipped with all modern amenities for facilitating academic and multi-faceted development of its students. The students are trained in Yoga, Karate, Swimming, Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Lawn Tennis and Cricket by expert coaches. For the aesthetic development of the students, the school has an Art room and a Music room where teachers nurture and hone their skills. The school has separate Gymnasiums for boys and girls which are furnished with all the modern equipments.
JPS had added yet another feather to its cap by introducing the cricket Education Programme in affiliation with cricket Australia. In order to launch the CEP on 28th August 2015, the Global Program Manager of Cricket Australia, Mr. Mathew Betsey had visited the school.
‘Elocution and Conversational Skills’, is a Language Development Programme that the school conducts for Std. I-VIII by qualified and trained examiner from Trinity College, London Examinations.
'Teach Next', a digital learning ecosystem, was introduced this academic year and it makes learning not only interactive and interesting, but also efficacious and long-lasting.
We have in our list of illustrious Alumni, the talented actor, Arjun Kapoor, Aditya Manubarwala, another notable alumni, had appeared before the Joint Committee of Parliament and submitted his views on the much debated Land Acquisition Bill. He is an active debater and had won many national and international competitions.
JPS granted a scholarship to Faisal Hijazi, one of its alumni, to pursue higher studies. He is currently working with the Aramco Company in Saudi Arabia after gaining experience at Larsen & Toubro as an engineer.
The school has had an illustrious past in the field of sports where its students have made it proud by achieving numerous laurels. Enthusiastic JPS students are given global exposure in the field of sports by encouraging them to participate in International sports events like the Gothia Cup Football Tournament, which is held in Sweden every year. Shivam Das (Std. 7) won the first prize in Table Tennis at Poddar School’s Kaleidoscope 2015. In the Youth Challenging Cup for Football, budding Jankians bagged the first place in the under-16 and second place in the under-14 categories, respectively. Viraj Sukhyani (Std. 7) won the Gold medal in Skating at DSO Competition, Vile Parle. Ishika Tawde and Arya Potdar (Std. 6) have brought great pride to our school by winning top slots in Judo Competitions. Ishika, after winning Gold medals at the Zonal and State levels, has been selected to represent JPS at the national level. Krishna Shetty (Std 9) won the silver medal in 3Km walk (under-16 category) at AISM Sports Meet.
Talented Jankians proved their mettle by winning the first prize in Science Model Making at Expiscor organized by Vissanji Academy.
