The British Pakistani actress talks about her role in Zindagi’s Kisi Ki Khatir...
Q & A Sanam Saeed

Sanam Saeed is a British Pakistani actress and model, who captured the hearts of viewers in her debut show on Indian television as a self-dependent Kashaf Murtaza in Zindagi’s blockbuster show Zindagi Gulzar Hai. Since then, Sanam has continued to win the hearts of audiences across the country with her stellar performances in Ranjish and Meri Jaan Hai Tu and carved a niche for herself as a powerhouse of talent.
The popular and charismatic actor Sanam is seen in the central role of Bibi in Kisi Ki Khatir, a highly anticipated show that highlights the stereotypical mentality of people for whom their ancestral pride is everything and follow the rigid caste system.

Tell us about your role in Kisi Ki Khatir?
I play the role of Bibi, an independent woman, who is empowered and brave enough to pave her own path. A strong single mother who is struggling and comes back to her mother’s house with her two kids.

What made you accept this role?
When the director Khalid Ahmed approached me for the role, I went through the script and when I read it, I had no second thoughts. The writer Bee Gul did a beautiful job. I loved the script. It’s a great script. I am glad that I got a chance to do this show, which is essentially about the strong independent Bibi, the mother of twins. Infact, Kashaf in Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Bibi in Kisi Ki Khatir are my two favourite characters. I really enjoyed working on this show and had a great time with the kids.

At the age of 30, you are playing the role of a mother. So are you okay with such roles?
I don’t have any reservation in essaying the role of a mother. I am confident about my age and image. In fact, I look much younger for my age. If the role is good and I like the script, then I don’t mind playing an older character, even if it is that of a mother.
Kisi Ki Khatir airs Monday — Saturday, 10 pm only on Zindagi.
