Highlights include township for middle and low income groups on PPP basis

The Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) has proposed a budget of Rs783.99 crore for the next financial year. Chief executive officer of PCNTDA Suhas Divase presented the budget to president Dilip Band on Tuesday.
The budget has provisions for facilitation centres for industrial workers in sectors 7, 8 and 10. There is also provision for a residential township for middle income group (MIG) and low income group (LIG) on public private partnership (PPP) basis in sector 12.
An eco-friendly office for PCNTDA at the Akurdi railway station, theme parks and traffic parks for children are some of the other features of the budget.
Divase told mediapersons that the authority would cater to needs of workers and give fillip to industrialisation by developing facilitation centres. The centres would have all facilities for workers under one roof like recreation centre, rest house, restaurants, library, telephone booths and ATM centres.
Divase added that PCNTDA has distributed industrial plots in Sector 7 and 10. PCNTDA has given priority to small saving groups and hawkers in these shops for which a provision of Rs5 crore has been made.
Band said, "PCNTDA has made a provision of Rs20 crore for a residential township with 15,000 houses. It will be the first project of its kind under the Jawaharal Nehru National Renewal Mission (JNNURM) on PPP basis."
"PCNTDA has made Rs100 crore provision for the project, while the centre has sanctioned Rs140 crore for the same," he said.
PCNTDA has made provision of Rs20 crore for constructing a flyover on the spine road, Rs18 crore for the eco-friendly office of PCNTDA at the Akurdi railway station and Rs19.44 crore for traffic park and theme garden.
PCNTDA, popularly known as Pradhikaran, was formed in 1972 to provide affordable housing to industrial workers in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Parts of the villages of Bhosari, Chikhali, Moshi, Nigdi, Akurdi, Ravet and Chinchwad were included in PCNTDA limits.
