Madhav Ramanuj gets Guj Gaurav Puraskar

The renowned author feted for his contribution to literature

Gujarat government on Tuesday announced 'Gaurav Puraskar' for city-based author and poet Madhav Ramanuj for his contribution to literature. The award is announced every year in association with Sahitya Akademi.
Born in 1945, Ramanuj studied in CN Fine Arts College and later served as the principal of the same college before moving on to Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC). He has penned plays like 'Akshar Nu Amrut', 'Raag Vairag'; collection of Gujarati poems 'Tame' and 'Akshar Nu Ekant'.
Ramanuj said, "It feels good to know that your efforts are being acknowledged. It is surely a motivationbut we don't work for awards but our passion towards writing."
He has set up a 'Kidney Theatre' group at IKDRC which organises plays for awareness on kidney related ailments. Currently, he is working on his new book. "It is the tale of evolution of human race," he said.
