Street Smart by aProch is scheduled to be organised on Independence Day

Ahmedabad: With the gradual spread of the concrete jungle, there are hardly any open spaces left for children to play. Most children are taken to various malls wherein they can have their playtime with various rides but physical effort is not involved therein. So, with an aim to provide an open space for children of the city, a Street Smart event is scheduled to be organised on Law Garden road on August 15 by aProch, a community-based initiative. The Street Smart event is being hosted by Calorx Public School, Ghatlodia.
The event is being organised to celebrate Independence Day and nine years of aProch, which also falls on August 15. Street Smart offers a platform to children to claim ownership of their own city and the streets become a playground for them. aProch has partnered with AMC, Ahmedabad Police, various schools and NGOs to make this event a success. Till now, aProch has organised over 44 Smart Street events starting from 2007.
Children will be seen giggling and participating in various activities in the Street Smart event at Law Garden from Alfa Balaji Mall to Tap circle in the evening from 4-6 pm. The road will be shut for traffic from 1 in the afternoon. A march past will be the special feature of the programme.
Kirti Zala, coordinator of aProch said, “Nowadays, children do not get free space to play like we used to play in our childhood. Parents share a lot of their childhood moments but children remain clurless about the subject. The event is being organised wherein the streets will become a playground for children.”
