Eminent designers from LFW to conduct workshops

To make weddings an affair worth remembering, Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID) announced that they have introduced a two and half year post graduate course in bridal wear, on Wednesday.
The batch size will be 15 students. Course session is expected to commence in July 2015. Eminent designers from Lakme Fashion Week will be conducting workshops and sessions for this newly designed bridal wear course initiated by UID. As part of the curriculum, the students will develop their own line of couture bridal collection.
"With the rise of glamorous and theme based weddings, the demand for elegant designer wedding trousseau has mushroomed in the last couple of years. The course will bridge the gap between rising demands for glamorous bridal trousseau and providing aspiring designers with the know-how in the bridal wear segment.
The course will impart knowledge about textile and fabrics and marry creativity, talent to techniques and application. Throught the course, we want to merge the know-how of Indian crafts in the contemporary silhouettes and color palettes to create fascinating trousseau for the bride and the groom," said Pankaj Patel, Dean, UID.
Aspiring bridal wear designers will learn the basics of sewing and tailoring, color, textiles and pattern making. The students will also be groomed on techniques related to cutting, hand stitching, seams, pocket construction, etc.
