It will facilitate error-free and quicker board exam results

In order to give examinees quick, accurate and fair results, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has introduced answer booklets for students appearing in Class X and Class XII exams. The Live Ink Character Recognition (LICR) booklet is the first of its kind which aims at easing off examiner's job and reducing their load for entering marks.
In the LICR method, the examiners will be given a LICR pen and tab. The method will be implemented from February 8 for Class XII exams and February 29 for Class X exams. From Ahmedabad Region, 1,355 students will appear for Class X exams while 700 students will take Class XII exams. Ahmedabad region includes Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Godhra.
It is to be noted that errors in totaling or even manipulation of marks will not be possible through this method as it will be a very transparent and fair process, sources said. In this students will write answers in the LICR answer booklet and the examiners will total the marks in the answersheet like they do every time, only this time with the LICR pen in the LICR sheet.
After marks are put on the LICR sheet, they will have to put a tick mark in a LICR box after detailed checking. Only then marks reported in the LICR sheet will come to the tab provided by the council to the examiners after they enter the candidates' names. Then the examiner will have to verify the score in the tab and LICR sheet and after confirming, the marks will be uploaded on the council site. The examiners won't have to make separate marksheets.Convener, ICSE, ISC Examinations, Ahmedabad Region, Kavita Sharma said: "We had an annual conference where the declaration was made for this initiative. The schools which would be the centre for corrections, their examiners will also be trained so that they can also guide the examiners, in case they require help."
The training for examiners has been completed.
