A second home has to be designed in a way that it is good looking as well as functional
dna of property Second Home Special
A second home is usually planned as an escape from the everyday hustle bustle. It is thus essential that the location of the second home is nestled in a quieter less chaotic area but also which is near from your primary home. You can choose the location as per your choice, feasibility to travel and respective budgets.
The new place should be near to avail all the basic facilities to keep the home live and breathable. It should be easily accessible from your primary home by rail and road in minimum time. It can be on a hill station, river side or a cold region which has a view from the verandah, windows, balconies and a beautiful landscape. It should grant the best of climatic conditions from monsoon rains drops to a pleasant summer.

View and feel incentive
The view and feel of the second home is the biggest incentive and thus its surroundings should have maximum positive energy to rejuvenate your time there. It should provide peace to all the time you spent there because the motive should be to re-energize the mind, body and soul from within.
For enjoying your second home to the fullest, its design has to be the good looking and functional. While designing the second home you should focus on open spaces from compound wall if possible without compromising the requirements of the interior.

Ensure common areas
There should be a lot of common areas, such as bigger living rooms preferably with a double heighted ceiling with slopping roofs. Living room can be attached to the verandah, balconies, sit-outs, decks and the terrace to enjoy the feel of indoor and outdoor adequately. Barbeque areas, party areas can also be collaborated in the open space to make the stay memorable. Designing an open kitchen attached to the living room, with attached kitchen garden will enhance the quality time spent with your siblings.

Opt for bigger sizes
One can plan multiple split leveled floors to give that dramatic second home a serene look. Being it a second home go for bigger size toilets and bedrooms with latest amenities such as Jacuzzi bath-tubs, open landscape showers to make the most out of your mini vacation.
On the architectural front, you can follow vernacular architecture style which blends with surrounding and also use locally available material such as stones, rocks, pebbles and flooring materials to give it a local and earthy look.
Designing the outdoor of the second home amenities should include a regular sized swimming pool and children's play area for relaxation. Also look to have fountains, decks party areas, gardens with big lawn and gazebo; with an outdoor sit-out with pergolas to give it a luxurious look to flaunt.

Consider key parameters
Talking about outdoor some important parameters which a second home owner should take into account are security and furniture. If you're leaving your holiday home empty for a longer period of time then security should be one of the most important considerations to make. One of the best defenses in the fight against crime is your neighbors, so try and keep a good rapport with all your surroundings. Installing a sensor light is also advisable with CCTV cameras and advanced locking systems to keep your second investment more secure and safe.
Furniture in a holiday home has to be replaced more often than furniture in a primary home, so it's advisable not to break the bank on a once in a lifetime purchase. Hundreds of guests are going to arrive and thus one should choose the furniture that is easy to clean and maintain.

Easy to clean materials
Avoid fabrics such as suede get dirty very easily, and are difficult to clean thus delicate items (such as lace tablecloths) which can't be machine washed will also require more work. Light colored sofas and carpets look great, but remember they can be stained or damaged more easily also choose cushions with removable covers to keep the cleaning process hassle free.
It may be tempting to buy wicker furniture, futons or sofa beds rather than proper sofas and armchairs, but they'll make your guests feel cramped and uncomfortable; thus do not let go on the quality. The same goes when buying furniture for bedrooms and dining rooms.
People go on weekend getaways and buy second homes with a motive to forget the hassle free life and struggles. Thus don't compromise on the quality of anything from the design of the house to the furniture indoor and outdoor. Because time spent with family and friends in joy is worth every second.
