Professionals have recognised my contribution: Dr SL Vaya

Forensic Psychology Day

The 63-year-old, Dr S L Vaya, who has several high profile cases to her credit has bagged the Forensic Clinical Psychology award for 2015 for her contribution to the field of clinical psychology.
Dr Vaya who founded the forensic psychology division at the Directorate of Forensic Science (DFS) and is presently associated with Raksha Shakti University as its director (Research and Development) will receive the award at 42nd National Annual Conference of Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists (IACP) to be held in Manipur in February.
Dr Vaya was intimated about the award in September itself. "I am happy to have been recognized for my contribution in the field. Media reminded me of Forensic Psychology Day today along with three people in Delhi FSL who thanked me as they got promoted as assistant directors in forensic psychology."
It is to be noted that National Annual Conference of Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists was organised for the first time in 2012 at Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU) when Dr Vaya was the director of Institute of Behavioural Science.
During the conference here, it was decided to celebrate January 21 as Forensic Psychology Day.
The theme of the conference this time is "Psycho-social conflict resolution: role of clinical psychologists".
It is a sensitive issue and people of Manipur expect that the during the National Annual Conference of Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists, mental health professionals would be able to put forward suggestions for resolution of psycho-social conflict.

Vaya has been instrumental in high-profile cases such Madhumita Shukla murder case, Gutka case, Nithari serial killings, Aarushi-Hemraj murder case of Noida, Ujjain serial killings, Ranchi serial murders, Telgi fake stamp case and the lion poaching case in Gir.
She is the first NABL Accredited Forensic Psychologist in India for Polygraph Examination, Narcoanalysis and Brain Signature Profiling.
