A new version of the book, 'Jewels of Gujarat', compiled and published by Maneesh Media, will be launched on Tuesday by chief minister Anandiben Patel at YMCA club. The book includes profiles of 100 renowned Gujarati personalities from 14 countries across the globe.
The book will not be available for purchase by the public, and out of 5000 copies, 3000 will be distributed to libraries at schools, colleges, universities, and community centers, etc. The book also features four Gujarati women. "Out of the100 personalities who have been covered in the book, about 75 will be present at the book launch. Unfortunately two of them passed away about a month ago," informed Chandmal Kumawat, chairman, Maneesh Media at a press conference on Monday.
Other books printed by the same publishers include Jewels of Rajasthan, which was launched in 2012, and Jewels of India- Leading Indian American Personalities, which was launched in 2013. The book launches were made during the 10th and 11th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas, respectively.
"The India release of the book coincides with the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi's return to India from South Africa in January 1915. This is why this updated version profiles 100 personalities. Also the book will provide examples to youngsters on the roles and contributions of Gujaratis in the world. It will help fulfilling the 'Make in India' dream of PM Narendra Modi," said Siddharth Kumawat, director Maneesh media.
A version of the book will also be available on the internet some time after January 13. There are no plans to translate the book.
