SC clears ordinance to restore Maratha quota in med PG courses

It said the admission process ended on June 17 and it cannot pass any order on the plea

The Supreme Court on Monday cleared the state government's ordinance to allow 16% reservation for Marathas in postgraduate medical and dental courses in the current academic year.
This was the last available opportunity with the state government to provide an entry route for Marathas after a previous attempt by the state to get them in through the 10% reservation for the economically weaker sections (EWS) among unreserved general category students was thwarted by the Supreme Court on May 30.
On Monday, the state argued that the Court should not interfere with the Ordinance as the admission process of PG medical courses for the academic year 2019-20 has concluded on June 17.
