The long-pending issue of e-tendering has been sanctioned by the general body of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and the process of registering for the same has also been started. The forms to apply for e-tendering registration are available at the ground floor of the NMMC headquarters at CBD-Belapur. Tenders above Rs 25 lakh will be filed by e-tendering and below it will follow the old process, said executive engineer of NMMC GV Rao. Citizens can avail all information about e-tendering on All the tenders will be filed online from February 1.
Earlier, Standing Committee chairman of NMMC Sandeep Naik had said that according to the norms of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), it is mandatory to call the tenders through e-tendering so that all contractors get equal chance. Once the local contractors become familiar with the process, e-tendering will be used for all tenders.
An NMMC official said the civic body would set up a help desk at the headquarters to help the contractors apply online. NMMCwould also conduct a 15-day workshop for contractors. "Through e-tendering, new contractors will get a chance to apply for various works," opined Municipal Commissioner Vijay Nahata.
