“Put your heart, mind and soul even in your smallest actions, this is the only secret to success.” This is the aphorism that young Jagruti Mandpe, a student who has successfully conquered her board examination after braving formidable odds, lives by.
A resident of Dapoli, Jagruti lives in a 10x10 sq feet room with her family where her mother is the sole bread winner of the family as her father has been very ill since 2009 and remains confined to the house. Jagruti’s mother earns Rs 3,000 per month by selling tea at a private college 20 kms away from their home.

more on studies. I used to religiously dedicate three to four hours to my studies daily,” said Jagruti Mandpe.
“We’re very poor and can’t afford even the basic facilities for Jagruti who has always been a bright student. I try my best to encourage her in her studies by borrowing money or by mortgaging my jewellery. Our relatives also help us. I’m very proud of Jagruti’s hard work and well-deserved success,” said Madhura Mandpe, Jagruti’s mother.
“Jagruti has big dreams. I hope that with proper guidance and help, she’ll go a long way,” said Jagruti’s relative.
