Pest control team sent to flood-hit areas

The pest control team of BMC is fumigating the flood hit areas of Kolhapur and Sangli district to prevent vector-borne diseases due to flies. Looking at the unhygienic conditions of the relief camp areas and villages where flooded water is now receding, the civic body has decided to take this precautionary measures.
According to the BMC officials, vector-borne diseases such as typhoid fever, cholera, dysentery can be spread in the area. Dr Santosh Revankar, joint executive health officer, BMC’s public health department, said, “Due to unhygienic conditions in the villages and relief camps, there were a lot of flies.
