I want the government to either end contractual jobs labour or make strict labour laws that will protect us from getting exploited. Right now I am doing a 12-hour shift and have no weekly off or any leave on festivals. Even if I take one day off, they deduct money from my salary. Both my husband and I are working only to ensure that our kids don’t end up doing these menial jobs, but how can you work like this and for how long? Shouldn’t we be asked to do an eight-hour shift and be given at least one weekly off?
