Accused plead not guilty, volunteer for narco tests

Srinagar: All eight accused, minus a juvenile, pleaded not guilty and volunteered to undergo narco analysis test as the trial in the shocking rape and murder case began at the District and Sessions Court in Jammu’s Kathua on Monday. The accused, led by retired government official Sanjhi Ram, made a verbal statement before the Principal Sessions Judge.
Ram, his son, his juvenile nephew, the nephew’s friend and four policemen have been charged with kidnapping, drugging, raping and brutally killing in captivity the eight-year-old child in January. The juvenile’s trial will begin separately.
