Plastic is not bad, littering is: Experts

Ahmedabad: Consumption of plastic has gone down across the country. Is this good for the environment? "Plastic is not bad for people but the habit of littering is bad. In Germany, plastic is 99.5% recycled. If they can, why can't India?" said Raju Desai, chairman of Plastivision India 2013.
"Unfortunately, recycled plastic contributes to around 40% of the total production in India. Now, laws have been framed. We are waiting for their proper execution," said Desai, adding that India's consumption of plastic is expected to double in the next five years.
India has been consuming around 10 million tonnes of plastic every year. But, due to the economic slowdown, consumption is believed to have come down
